A 19th century Naval Officer's dirk, with shagreen grip, inscribed Capt. Gerald Welch, circa 1880, blade length 17.75'', overall length 23.5''.

Naval dirk blade is very rusty, pitted also the tip has been bent over as well. The hilt shows signs of wear and scratching, shagreen handle is worn but not split or ripped over all quite a lot of wear to the handle, the scabbard leather very worn creased and split down the seam, mounts very worn rubbed and dented.
