There is no visible signature on the front of the painting, paper is slightly discoloured with a number of small fox marks in the sky and paper discolouration where the mount touches the paper, frame and mount are early 20th century, there is a hand written old label stuck to the back board " Government Hill Singapore 1847 painted by R W Wiber of the post office department, this picture was given by his niece Miss Eleanor Wiber of Dublin to W E Dobbs, and by him to Lucinda Dobbs (Turner) 1949". Although I am sure this painting is mid 19th century we have no further information on the artist, and we are certain the catalogue description is correct, this has come from a private vendor.
