18th century oil on wood panel, portrait of a man with a bugle, unsigned, 19" x 18.5", framed
Panel has a split near the left-hand edge, no other damage or restoration, paint stable, good quality frame with some moulding missing from the left-hand edge.
There is a large crack running down the left side of the picture also on the centre right running up 3 inches from the base. The paint surface has cracked throught the left eye.
There is evidence of over painting under UV light across the image, including areas in the face.
