House contents sale

10th June 2015

We are very excited to be selling the contents of this 18th century farmhouse at our antique sale next week, but the contents are not what you would expect!

The house was completely furnished and decorated in the 1960s and 70s with Danish and Scandinavian influence, when the family spent huge amounts of money on furniture, paintings, silver, jewellery and works of art from stores such as Garrards, Heals, Georg Jensen etc.

The farmhouse, which lies just outside Battle, was a working beef farm until the death of the owner 3 years ago.

Included in our sale next Wednesday is a fantastic collection of Georg Jensen silver tableware, including 3 large sterling silver table centre fruit comports, a huge suite of sterling silver cutlery for 10 place settings, and a pair of candlesticks. The furniture includes a Danish dining suite by Poul Jeppesen, including a pair of sofas and cabinets, and a leather upholstered sofa designed by Robin Day for Hille. Also an extensive Rosenthal Lotus pattern dinner, tea and coffee service, an enormouse suite of matching glassware, and cutlery.

This sale also includes a large collection of scientific instruments, beautiful jewellery, a selection of ethnic items, interesting medal groups, and much more.

The sale will be available to view on our website from Thursday, with live bidding on the saleday via the-saleroom.com
